Air Handling Systems
Turn to Taylor’s engineering team to deliver an Air Handling System optimized for your specific test cell requirements. Whether you need an HVAC system that maintains temperatures within 18°F (10°C) of the outside ambient conditions (under typical operating conditions), or duct designs to optimize the air temperature at the engine’s air intake, we have the experience and expertise to deliver.
Closed Loop Cooling Center (CLCC)
Taylor has a family of Closed Loop Cooling Centers (CLCC), each sized to handle the heat rejection typically required for engines that are of 1,250 hp, 2,500 hp, 4,250 hp, and 8,000 hp (932 kW, 1,864 kW, 3,169 kW and 5,965 kW). The CLCC allows you to use a glycol-based coolant to regulate an engine coolant circuit temperature while cooling the CLCC with the facility process water.
A Hood Style Exhaust System does not require any engine connections, reducing the test time and labor involved with setup. This open exhaust system pulls make-up air into the test cell while removing both engine exhaust and room exhaust. A small ventilator should be installed into the ceiling to permit the escape of any fumes not captured.
Exhaust Kit Systems (Closed)
Taylor Dynamometer offers closed exhaust kit systems to meet the unique requirements of your facility. Exhaust extraction systems for engine test cells encompass both engine and general test cell air extraction to ensure both proper engine operation and the safety of your personnel.
The Taylor Dynamometer Fuel Cooler is typically used in conjunction with a day tank to cool the return fuel and maintain a stable fuel temperature during engine operation. The typical application is in a system that does not contain a Taylor Dynamometer Gravimetric Fuel Measurement system yet stable fuel temperatures for repeatable engine performance is needed.
Small Cooling Column
The cooling column regulates the temperature and coolant pressure of the engine that is being tested. The gas-leak detecting pressurized engine Cooling Column is an inexpensive, reliable, and easy to use engine jacket water cooler. It requires no electrical power or compressed air, only a source of cold water and a floor drain. The Cooling Column is for use in applications up to 1,250 hp (933 kW).
Hose Interconnect Kit
The hose interconnect kit is specially designed for quick connect and disconnect between the engine and Cooling Column and/or Low Temperature Aftercooler. The hoses are secured to the engine cooling water inlet and outlets with the supplied hose quick-disconnect couplings. The quick-disconnect ends are then attached to the Cooling Column’s or Low Temperature Aftercooler’s inlet and outlet hoses. A Wye fitting is available for engines with dual outlet connections.
Low Temperature Aftercooler
The Low Temperature Aftercooler (LTA) is designed to regulate the secondary water circuit temperature on engines that use an onboard liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger (other than jacket water) to cool charge air. Analog gauges allow you to monitor temperature and pressure levels during testing.

A Taylor made Sub-Base Kit eliminates the need for a concrete pedestal and places the dynamometer at the desired centerline height which serves to greatly simplify the installation of the dynamometer by allowing for a flat floor / isolation pad. Taylor offers Sub-Base Kits for use with all of our engine dynamometer models.
Supervisory Fire Panel with Flame Detectors
The supervisory panel provides fire notification locally via a horn and strobe light located outside the test cell. Relays provide interfaces to the facility safety panel and test cell control system to interrupt any testing, shutdown equipment and stop fuel from entering the test cell.
