Engine Dynamometers - The Complete Diagnostic System

Taylor's engine dynamometer is the most important engine diagnostic tool available, allowing you to quickly troubleshoot problems such as low horsepower, insufficient torque, and leaks.

Our engine dynamometers will verify that the repair is completed, that the engine is operating according to specifications and can be used to break-in engines before installation. Taylor's engine dynamometer product line includes Water Brake Style Engine Dynamometers, Portable Dynamometers, Eddy Current Dynamometers, and AC Dynamometers.

Taylor's data acquisition and dynamometer control system is DynPro. DynPro works equally well with waterbrake style dynamometers, eddy current dynamometers, DC dynamometers and AC dynamometers

 

Taylor TD-3100

The Taylor TD-3100 Portable Dynamometer

Use Taylor Dynamometer's TD-3100 portable dynamometer to quickly measure engine power. You can perform tests indoors or out. Simply mount the dynamometer directly on the engine. You don't need a special engine stand or test cell. You can even test the engine while it's sitting in the shipping crate.

All you need is a water supply for the dynamometer. Entry-level mechanics can easily perform initial break-in runs, full power runs and governor checks. Coupled with Taylor Dynamometer's DynPro software, the TD-3100 produces color graphs, charts, and tabular test data reports. Add a Taylor fuel consumption system for accurate Measurement of fuel mass, volume, and BSFC.

Taylor Dynamometer's water brake (hydraulic) style engine dynamometers are known for their longevity. Taylor builds every one of its engine dynamometer systems with heavy-duty components, then supports each with legendary service.

The end result is an engine dynamometer with a track record of proven durability in the trucking, off-road, military, and mining industries. Taylor's waterbrake style dynamometer can test engines from 5 to 9000 hp.

 

 

Eddy Current DynamometersThe Taylor Air Gap Eddy Current Dynamometers

Air Gap Eddy Current Dynamometers are deigned for testing engines to 966 hp (720 kW). These are low inertia, water-cooled Eddy Current Dynamometers designed to provide our customers with a precise, robust and repeatable alternative to water-brake technology. An Eddy Current Dynamometer produces braking torque using the principle of eddy currents induced on a rotating metallic disk, immersed in a magnetic field.

All of our Eddy Current Dynamometers include a strain gage load cell to provide torque measurement capabilities for precise test and development applications. A variable reluctance (Magnetic Pickup) sensor and 60 tooth gear are provided for sensing speed (rpm). These units are built to last.

The rugged design of the power absorbing system ensures a long operating life, even in the most demanding applications and environments. The long life and ruggedness of the product is further enhanced by the nickel plating of critical components in contact with the cooling water.
