About Taylor

Foundations

During the great depression in the 1920’s, John Taylor formed the Taylor Dynamometer & Machine Company to produce and market the equipment he had developed for diesel engine testing. When the U.S. entered into World War II, the company was well known for its quality products, particularly its engine dynamometers. Since World War II, Taylor Dynamometer has focused on providing testing solutions to manufacturers and distributors of all types of engines and motors. Today, thousands of Taylor dynamometer’s are in operation throughout the world.

Engineering

Taylor’s success over the years is attributed to its reputation for the outstanding value that it delivers to its customers, through product design, manufacturing processes, technical support and training. The focus of the company has been and continues to be its engineering excellence.

Taylor works hard to balance its product development between mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering. The company has developed strong capabilities in each area, particularly important with computerized dynamometer controllers and various electronic engine testing tools. Taylor has innovated real benefits for its customers, such as windows-based software with easy-to-learn and easy-to-use style, presentation-quality reports and others. Our innovations reflect our advanced capabilities.

Our regional representatives provide engineering assistance to our customers. We believe this is very important because most customers select and install few dynamometers during their careers and need to depend upon us to advise them on which dynamometer is most appropriate for their performance testing needs. In addition, our engineers advise customers on the configuration of the dynamometer test room and the adequacy of services, including electricity, air intake and outflow, fuel supply, plumbing and drainage.

Manufacturing

We're proud of our manufacturing competence. We not only design and develop our own products - we also build our own products at our factory. We believe that this gives us flexibility that is a real advantage for our customers. Every machine is manufactured to an order and tailored to meet the testing needs of each customer. Many of our parts and components are custom fabricated by our suppliers to our design and patterns, to ensure that they meet our high standards of reliability and durability.
